Spring Clean-Up

  • April 26, 2014

  • Sun Bowl

Dear VFMA Neighbors,

It has been a very difficult winter for the families on the Mountain, but hopefully we’ve seen the last of the Winter of 2013 / 2014.

The Sun Bowl is in the worst shape in recent memory, in particular due to the ice storm which brought down trees and limbs.  Those who plan to attend the Easter Egg hunt will see the extent of damage first hand.  So we have a lot of work to do in addition to the usual maintenance.

On behalf of your Mountain Association, we are asking all who use or appreciate
the SUNBOWL to show up and pitch in.  We will be spreading mulch in the
playground area, replacing numerous broken fence poles, and wielding some heavy equipment/power tools.  We ask that those with a chain saw (and extension cord if necessary) please bring them.  We are hoping to minimize the need to pay a tree service if at all possible

Show your community involvement and camaraderie by lending your support to the

Annual Spring Clean Up of the SUNBOWL starting at 7:30 am on Saturday April 26th.

The VFMA itself doesn't have any tools to provide, so please bring your yard equipment,
such as a pitchfork or metal rake or wheelbarrow or tarp (tarps are especially
needed to move debris). Gardening or work gloves are recommended.

Activities include:

  •  Spreading 20 yards of playground mulch
  • Trimming trees/bushes
  • Raking out leaves/removing debris
  • Collecting sticks for future kindling needs
  • Raise Tent – if time permits
  • Replace some fence post and rails

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

TEENAGE VOLUNTEERS – A letter/certificate of appreciation will be provided for High School credit etc.
